RSHS Doctor

Meet Ian Johnston, the Society’s Doctor

About Ian

Ian is a retired GP with 46 years experience in community practice, hospital practice and health management.

About Ian’s Role

The role of the Society’s Doctor is to confirm applicants’ medical conditions for the Society in line with the Society’s medical criteria and assess how that condition affects their ability to live day to day.

This may involve visiting applicant’s homes, speaking to their GPs or hospital doctors on occasion. It may be obvious from their application.

Information gathered is presented to the Welfare Committee at quarterly meetings to help inform decisions on whether or not to make an award.
